Process Paintings

Sometimes the process of making a painting becomes the most important thing, think Jackson Pollack. My subject becomes colors, shapes, and lines, and the relationship between them. Emotional marks invoke feelings in the way music creates feelings—because of what they are. As many have said, my work comes through me, not from me, and when all goes well, I am amazed to see things I had no idea I knew appear.

can't make up things like this

I love it when things I couldn’t imagine happen in the course of painting. The forms and color story of this piece developed when the heat of my butane torch revealed inner layers of wax that were uncovered by the process of fusing. This is one of my all time favorite paintings because of the subtle colorations, delicate lines and forces beyond me that were at play.36x36. $3000
