Process Paintings

Sometimes the process of making a painting becomes the most important thing, think Jackson Pollack. My subject becomes colors, shapes, and lines, and the relationship between them. Emotional marks invoke feelings in the way music creates feelings—because of what they are. As many have said, my work comes through me, not from me, and when all goes well, I am amazed to see things I had no idea I knew appear.

Mountain lace

Open thread like strands, textures in three dimensions, colors so subtle you have to look twice to see them. This piece was created in part by the process of fusing, in part by intalgo or cutting into the wax to make patterns. I especially like the high and low dimensions and the places where you can see smooth wax through the empty spaces.$1000
